Purpose of Silver Bay Haven: Establish and maintain a perpetual private wildlife and commons park in Cass County, MN

Our Cause: Silver Bay Haven believes that too much of the vacant land in and around the city of Lake Shore and Nisswa Lakes area is being developed which is removing much needed untouched wilderness for our wildlife in the area.

Our Mission: Preserving such vacant land and having it designated "Wildlife Sanctuary" in certain areas we feel we can help maintain some undeveloped land is the focus and key to our Mission as a non-profit.

We have seen such development nearly destroy a small lake in Cass county in which a new development and property owner adjacent to this lake added weed control chemicals which killed most of the fish population in this lake.  This happened because the new landowner did not understand the small ecosystem of this small lake and the amount of chemicals used were far too much for this small body of water, killing almost all of the vegetation needed in the water to produce the oxygen the fish needed to survive!

Our goal is to stop at least some of this land from being developed but not all of it.  In the areas being developed we see developments next to developments with no open land in between to give the wildlife the needed habitat they need to live and survive before being pushed out of the area altogether.

Meaningful habitat control is our key focus to allow man and nature to live together in the same area while preserving some of the land from being developed in which most will, over time, if someone does not help!
